The 1978 Burnaby women's eight-oared rowing team won gold at the Canadian, U.S. and B.C. championships, while also winning the prestigious Royal Canadian Henley Regatta in the same year.
Dr. Glen Smith was a founding member of the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club. After moving to Burnaby in 1985, he became a club board member and didn’t leave until 2011.
