Our appreciation and gratitude goes out to all our inductees, nominees and scholarship candidates. The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame is excited about the City of Burnaby providing a prominent place to inform Burnaby residents and visitors about the proud history and future of the city’s thriving sports community in its new Burnaby Lake Aquatics and Arena project.

Dr. Jack Taunton

Dr. Jack Taunton is respected as one of the top Sport Medicine doctors in North America. He was Chief Medical officer at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Sydney 2000 Olympics and two Pan American and World Student Games as well as Medical officer of the 1988 Winter Olympics, three Commonwealth Games and four World Championships.

He was Team Physician for the Vancouver Grizzles of the NBA and Vancouver Canucks and for 24 years the national women’s field hockey team. Together with colleague Dr. Doug Clement created the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre.

Recognizing and celebrating those who have brought honour to Burnaby through their incredible achievements in the arenas of sport.

Sports have the unique ability to cut across differences in age, gender, ethnicity, politics and wealth to unify, inspire, entertain and amaze. Our Inductees and our Scholarship winners certainly are living proof of this.
