Our appreciation and gratitude goes out to all our inductees, nominees and scholarship candidates. The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame is excited about the City of Burnaby providing a prominent place to inform Burnaby residents and visitors about the proud history and future of the city’s thriving sports community in its new Burnaby Lake Aquatics and Arena project.

Dave Steen, Jr was a Bronze medalist decathlon athlete in the 1988 Seoul Olympics and was an outstanding athlete at Burnaby Central Secondary.

Steen, Jr set national long jump record in mid-70’s; led national decathlon rankings for nine years, breaking his own Canadian record four times; won silver medal in decathlon and 86 Commonwealth Games, won gold in decathlon 1983 at World Student and Pan Am Games; only Canadian to win Olympic decathlon medal.
