The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame is excited about the City of Burnaby providing a prominent place to inform Burnaby residents and visitors about the proud history and future of the city’s thriving sports community in its new Burnaby Lake Aquatics and Arena project.

Daniel Igali is Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame’s first Olympic gold medalist. Captured the wrestling gold medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney in his weight class. He became Canada’s first World freestyle champion in 1999.

Made the sweep complete by winning the gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. A five-time Canadian champion from 1998 to present, Igali was unbeaten over three years winning NAIA titles from 1996 to ’98 while at student at Simon Fraser University.
