Our appreciation and gratitude goes out to all our inductees, nominees and scholarship candidates. The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame is excited about the City of Burnaby providing a prominent place to inform Burnaby residents and visitors about the proud history and future of the city’s thriving sports community in its new Burnaby Lake Aquatics and Arena project.

Bill Colbourne was a co-founder of the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association. He has been involved in minor hockey for nearly 50 years as an official, referee-in-chief and coach, from peanut to junior for over 20 years.

Colbourne also served 11 years with the B.C. Amateur Hockey Association, including a stint as its president from 1981 to ’84.

“I grew up chasing my wife around for the last 50 years and now I’ve chased her into the hall of fame,” Colbourne quipped. “It was not expected when I started out 50 years ago.”
