Our appreciation and gratitude goes out to all our inductees, nominees and scholarship candidates. The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame is excited about the City of Burnaby providing a prominent place to inform Burnaby residents and visitors about the proud history and future of the city’s thriving sports community in its new Burnaby Lake Aquatics and Arena project.
Alex Turkington spent close to 40 years working in youth soccer as an official and referee. He is a life member of the B.C. and B.C. junior and juvenile soccer associations, now B.C. youth soccer, and B.C. soccer.
Turkington also oversaw the formation of the Burnaby juvenile boys soccer association.
Recognizing and celebrating those who have brought honour to Burnaby through their incredible achievements in the arenas of sport.
Sports have the unique ability to cut across differences in age, gender, ethnicity, politics and wealth to unify, inspire, entertain and amaze. Our Inductees and our Scholarship winners certainly are living proof of this.
