Our appreciation and gratitude goes out to all our inductees, nominees and scholarship candidates. The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame is excited about the City of Burnaby providing a prominent place to inform Burnaby residents and visitors about the proud history and future of the city’s thriving sports community in its new Burnaby Lake Aquatics and Arena project.
Moira Colbourne started the field hockey program in Burnaby in 1968 and was instrumental one year later of forming Burnaby Women’s Field Hockey Association and has been president for past 30 years; saw association grow from two teams to 44; introduced field hockey into Burnaby schools and Burnaby Men’s Club; Simon Fraser University coach for 29 years; has served as an administrator, coach and umpire for 47 years.
Recognizing and celebrating those who have brought honour to Burnaby through their incredible achievements in the arenas of sport.
Sports have the unique ability to cut across differences in age, gender, ethnicity, politics and wealth to unify, inspire, entertain and amaze. Our Inductees and our Scholarship winners certainly are living proof of this.
