Joe Sakic, “Burnaby Joe”, one of the finest hockey players ever developed in Burnaby and Canada; played minor hockey with Burnaby Minor Hockey Association; a multiple all-star; outstanding junior career with Swift Current and Canadian national team; drafted in first round of NHL in 1987 and is currently starring with the Colorado Avalanche, having led them to their second Stanley Cup and winning the Hart, Lady Byng and Lester B. Pearson awards; active supporter of minor hockey.
