Our appreciation and gratitude goes out to all our inductees, nominees and scholarship candidates. The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame is excited about the City of Burnaby providing a prominent place to inform Burnaby residents and visitors about the proud history and future of the city’s thriving sports community in its new Burnaby Lake Aquatics and Arena project.
Doug Abercrombie has 25 years of coaching success in Burnaby.
He coached an Edmonds under-14 girls team to a national championship in 1982 and has five Canadian College titles in seven years as head coach with the Capilano College women’s team.
He has also coached at the Western Canada Games, at Simon Fraser University, with the B.C. Select u-15 program and with the Vancouver 86’ers women’s team in 2000.
Recognizing and celebrating those who have brought honour to Burnaby through their incredible achievements in the arenas of sport.
Sports have the unique ability to cut across differences in age, gender, ethnicity, politics and wealth to unify, inspire, entertain and amaze. Our Inductees and our Scholarship winners certainly are living proof of this.
