Our appreciation and gratitude goes out to all our inductees, nominees and scholarship candidates. The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame is excited about the City of Burnaby providing a prominent place to inform Burnaby residents and visitors about the proud history and future of the city’s thriving sports community in its new Burnaby Lake Aquatics and Arena project.

Three decades of being a pillar in Burnaby’s youth soccer community has earned Doug Ross a spot in the Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame. Ross has served at least 25 years as a member of the Burnaby District board of directors and has been recognized as winner of a district Pioneer Award and a BC Soccer Award of Merit.

His prodigious and excellent volunteer work, which also includes several coaching stints and working with the provincial sport body, comes despite not having a son or daughter in the system.
Ross began volunteering and coaching with the former Edmonds soccer Club and then continued with the Wesburn Youth Soccer Club after the two organizations amalgamated.

He has coached or managed teams every year for 30 years, sometime helping out two teams at the same time. He’s organized tournaments, served on countless committees and also taken on the often-thankless task of being the organization’s disciplinarian. Ross has served as a district chair and is currently the boys vice-chair for the district.
